At Neminox we have made it our mission to provide our customers with high quality, multi-functional alloys that thrive under the most extreme pressures. To this end we present the Duplex 2205, a duplex austenitic/ferritic stainless steel that, in the annealed condition, contains between 40 – 50% ferrite.
Table of Contents
ToggleThe Duplex 2205 has become the de facto solution to chloride stress corrosion cracking problems that occur when using the 304/304L or 316/316L stainless steels.
The reason for this is down to the high molybdenum, chromium and nitrogen content in its make up. This enables the Duplex 2205 to provide far better corrosion resistance in most environments and also a greater design strength than the other metals listed above. It is these properties that have seen it used in a wide number of applications; including in chemical process vessels, FGD scrubber systems, pulp mill digesters, bleach washers, food processing equipment and in oil field piping and heat exchangers.
So what makes the Duplex 2205 so highly valued that means it is used in such a diverse range of applications? The answer is that the Duplex 2205 is a tremendous all-rounder that comes with many benefits. These include its superb resistance to both chloride and sulphide stress reduction cracking, the superior strength it displays and the ability to remain strong in the face of chloride pitting and crevice corrosion.
The Duplex 2205 from Neminox is, as you would expect from a company that only demands the very best, a superior alloy that remains unaffected in high temperatures and the most extreme of environments. However demanding the circumstances may be, at Neminox we have the knowledge, ability and expertise to deliver alloys that will never let you down. Indeed it is testament to the reliability and quality shown by our products that we are now viewed as one of the most trusted suppliers and manufacturers of speciality metals in the world.
